Remarkable, authentic hogan style log cabin built in 1997 by a Native American woman named Ruth Whitecrane. This eight-sided Navajo hogan cabin is built with cribbed logs - logs joined by notches at the corners. The roof slopes upward to the center and is supported by a large Kiva fireplace in the middle of the cabin. The front door faces East which is the Navajo custom. Each day Navajo men would awaken just before the sunrise and greet the sun with prayers to ensure harmony that day with their world. The Navajo call themselves Dine' {"the people"). Hogan in Dine' language translates as "home place". Come make this unique Navajo cabin your "Home Place" in Ruidoso.
